More than 100 residents were treated to a delicious lasagna and salad dinner, prepared by Steve Leonard. Many brought desserts to share, and home-grown fruits and vegetables to trade in the Backyard Fruit & Vegetable Exchange. Representatives from Master Gardeners of Santa Clara County, a volunteer organization promoting horticultural education and service to the community, discussed soil conditions in our area and answered questions following the meeting. Many thanks to Lucia Baldwin and Realty World for sponsoring this event.

Update from the city on the Cherrystone / Peachtree improvements:
According to the city, The contractor is currently working in the Glen Una area and is trying to get to it done prior to the rainy season (it may be too late for that). They will get back to the Cherrystone area to finish the sidewalk, park strips and to finish paving in the next couple of weeks. The Cherrystone area is "winterproof" now, all of the underground work is done and functioning and the asphalt bases are in place -- all driveways are done too.

Further updates (and the contest winners!) as we get them.

HOLIDAY SHOWCASE Cory residents should have received flyers detailing our Holiday Showcase contest. The contest works as follows:

Take a tour of neighborhood and keep an eye out for homes whose holiday decorations seem worthy of winning a prize in one of the following three categories: most creative display, best non-electrical display, and best multi-home display. Either email your vote, or fill out the ballot at the bottom of the flyer (link above) and drop it off at one of the addresses listed on the flyer.

Voting deadline is this Sunday, 12/15. Winners will be based on voting, and will receive prizes from the board. Good luck and have fun!

11.13.2002

The new board is in place! Congratulations to new President, Art Maurice. The full list of the new board members, with contact information, is available on the contacts page.

And a big thank you to the former Executive Board -- especially Toni Sindelar, the outgoing President. Your work made the entire association possible.

9.20.2002

From Rick Crosetti, of Ken Yeager's office:

Toni asked me to pass on some information regarding the tree removals in the neighborhood related to the current street rehabilitation project. Tuan Lam, Public Works project manager, let me know that now that the existing curbs have been removed the Arborist determined that 2 trees on Cherrystone and 7 on Peachtree will need to be removed. This follows through with the procedure that was outlined by Barbara Keegan and Ralph Mize to remove only the trees where root removal endangers the health or safety of the tree.

7.10.2002

The association fiscal policy document is available on the documents page. There is a proposed amendment to the organization bylaws which would require that financial actions be executed according to this policy. That amendment is due to be ratified during next week's general meeting.

Speaking of the meeting, it will begin at 7:15 and should be fairly brief. The meeting will be outside, so please bring a chair, as seating is limited.

5.24.2002

The Association board would like to profusely thank everyone who helped out with our amazingly successful clean-up weekend one week ago. It's amazing what our neighborhood can do when we all pitch in!

Special thanks in particular to Elizabeth Fruzetti, Steve & Marcia Frazier, Hank Wright, Bob Anderson, Bob Kass, Ron Hines, Jim Schallau, Cheri Fulk, Michael Martin, and Bob Cordova all of whom pitched in on the dumpster day to make sure it went smoothly.

5.17.2002

Our clean-up weekend begins tomorrow!

Our yard sale day now has a finalized map of participants -- a yard sale junkie's dream come true!

On Sunday, nine dumpsters will be placed around the neighborhood -- be sure to bring proof of residency to be able to dump.

Above all, have fun!

5.5.2002

Coming up on the 18th and 19th is our clean-up weekend.

YARD SALE
On May 18th, we will be having our neighborhood wide yard sale. It will run from 9 am until 1 pm.

When you sign up for the yard sale, your home will be added to maps distributed to shoppers arriving in the neighborhood, and you will be given a sign to post at your house identifying you as a participant. The neighborhood association will be placing ads in the Pennysaver and the Mercury News to attract shoppers.

DUMPSTER DAY
On the 19th, we are providing the opportunity for you to throw away anything you didn't sell. Our Dumpster day begins at 8:30 am, and will last until the Dumpsters are full.

In order to be able to dump anything, you will need to bring with you the flyer that will arrive at your house between now and the event day. This is to make sure that only neighborhood residents are availing themselves of the dumpsters. There will be a $5 charge for each load of garbage. (As part of our grant from the city, we are expected to generate some income of our own.) The following cannot be dumped: brick, dirt, concrete, wet garbage, asbestos, tires, paint, and batteries.

4.22.2002

Much thanks to Mike Garvey, local Century 21 realtor, for his assistance with the distribution of our most recent general meeting flyer.

1.22.2002

Our first meeting was an astonishing success. We had an estimated 180 attendees.

Additionally, please note the contacts link at left. All of the board members are listed, as are the phone numbers provided by Councilman Yeager's office.

10.25.2001

On Saturday, October 13, four representatives of the Cory Neighborhood Association attended the annual fall conference of United Neighborhoods of Santa Clara County, an organization we will join soon.
